Oligarchy is personality-centered governance. Oligarchy operates devoid of consensus. Good candidate, bad candidate, worthy/unworthy, red/blue usurps front stage. Policy, issue, position, and consensus are pushed back stage. Constructive policy, law, and real solutions are impossible when consensus is never achieved.
The heart of democracy is consensus, consensus, consensus. Personality plays no part. Progress, policy, law, and change requires consensus. Consensus is the heart and mind of the American people.
Is America an elected oligarchy or is America a democracy? Watch the news. Listen to the candidates. It’s not rocket science. It’s not difficult.
Where is the discussion? What is America talking about? What discussions lead to consensus? What discussions are personality based, good/bad, worthy/unworthy, red/blue, and on and on and on?
Daily media input strongly suggests America is an elected oligarchy where eight elephants rule: war, immigration, ecology, recession, foreclosure, joblessness, tax, and debt.
Any progress with eight elephants requires democracy and consensus. Oligarchy personality-based feudalism brings no consensus. Re-citizenized democracy promises consensus based progress.
The foundation of monarchy and oligarchy is personality. Personality is the trivia of governance. The foundation of democracy is consensus. Consensus is the heart of governance.
Elected monarchy/oligarchy politics play out in the crucifixion or death of American public figures. How many deaths or crucifixions has America endured? The casualties are endless. Lincoln-death, Kennedy-two-deaths, King-death, Nixon-crucifixion, Clinton-crucifixion, Dean-crucifixion, and Edwards-crucifixion. Running for president or congress is too often application for jeopardy/crucifixion. It’s not whether public figures have it coming. It’s the shamefulness of a small finite tent in an expanding universe.
A 12,000 congressperson legislature and a 9 president executive is a big tent. This tent has room to coral eight elephants: war, immigration, ecology, recession, foreclosure, joblessness, tax, and debt.
Bring back democracy. Bring back consensus. Re-citizenize democracy. Bring back America.
When service in a restaurant suffers, more waiters are needed. When fire breaks out everywhere, more fire fighters are needed. When crime becomes rampant, more police are needed. When America lacks governance, send help to the few existing democratic representatives. More representatives are needed. The antidote to corruption of power is disbursement of power. Step it up, America. Be proactive. Check out plan-b.
Citizen is coach to team democracy. Coach is responsible for success. It’s your call, coach.
